Character Tickets for Beginners
Learn the difference between Gold, Roll Tickets, Character Tickets, and rental access before choosing an unlock.
There is no general “Gold Ticket” that unlocks any character. Gold and Character Tickets are different resources, and confusing them can lead to a very disappointing trip through the menus.
Know the four resources
Gold buys minor customization and profile items. It is not the normal route for permanently unlocking characters.
Roll Tickets are used on banners. They give you a chance at rewards from that banner.
Character Tickets permanently unlock one character from an eligible pool. They do not work on every character.
Rental Tickets provide temporary match access to eligible original battle styles. They are useful for testing, not ownership.
Where beginners get Character Tickets
The public new-player documentation identifies Beginner Missions and Research Notebook rewards as Character Ticket sources. Work through those systems before spending premium currency.
A practical route:
- Open the Event or Mission area and complete the available Beginner Missions.
- Check the Special Missions tied to Research Notebook progress.
- Claim completed rewards instead of assuming they are delivered automatically.
- Return to the character screen and inspect which characters currently accept the ticket.
Ticket availability and eligible characters can change. The live character screen is the authority.
Do not choose from tier lists alone
A permanent unlock is most valuable when it matches how you enjoy playing. Before using a ticket:
- Test the character in Training.
- Use rental access for real matches when available.
- Check whether the character’s difficulty is comfortable.
- Ask whether you like their movement and recovery options, not only their damage.
- Confirm that the unlock button specifically shows a Character Ticket.
For a first unlock, a difficulty rating of 5 or lower is a sensible starting point. A simple kit gives you more attention for positioning, revives, item management, and team awareness.
Keep one ticket when uncertain
You do not need to spend a Character Ticket the moment you receive it. Holding one is useful when:
- You have not tested the eligible pool.
- A character you want is not currently ticket-eligible.
- You already have several comfortable characters.
- You are choosing because a friend or tier list told you to.
Tickets are guaranteed value. Uncertainty is a perfectly good reason to wait.
Final check before confirming
Read the confirmation screen and verify:
- The resource icon says Character Ticket.
- The unlock is permanent.
- You selected the original battle style you intended.
- The character is not already obtainable through a free license track you are close to completing.
That ten-second check is cheaper than learning the currency icons by regret.
